“Don’t waste life in doubts and fears; spend yourself on the work before you, well assured that the right performance of this hour’s duties will be the best preparation for the hours and ages that will follow it.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Doubt is perhaps one of the most all-time wastes of productive energy. It always creeps in. Sometimes I find myself at a crossroads, not knowing which path to take. At first, it seems bewildering and overwhelming until I make a choice and follow through. Experience has taught me that whatever I choose is right for me, in the highest interests of my growth and the best interests of those around me. If you’re reading this, I suggest perhaps you consider the following ideas.
I have a family member who can never seem to make up her mind. She will often make multiple suggestions (all of them great), yet at the last minute, she dithers around, wandering around in her angst. My suggestion is to go with the first idea. Even if your expectations aren’t met, at least you’ve made a decision and stuck with it.
This is hard to do. To just have some faith that it will all work out. I like to use the analogy of this huge planet we live on and which has been around for millions of years. In the context of space and time, how significant are the choices we make? Really? Sometimes it takes leaps of faith to walk into uncharted waters and trust it will be ok.
“The more you know, the less you know.”
Some time ago I hit an all-time low in my business. At first, I felt sorry for myself, but then I began to seek wisdom and advice from people I trusted. I kept looking for the perfect answer. Instead of making excuses for the predicament in which I found myself, I decided to take the first tentative steps out of this funk. It was only then a way forward presented itself and I took action. Guess what? It all worked out.
You have the answers. You know you do. Yet somehow you find all sorts of excuses to do something else, instead of getting on with the task at hand. This is especially true when you are in doubt. Whatever you are avoiding, will remain challenging. My advice? Take the first small step in the direction of your dreams. Just one small thing can make all the difference. The Universe will support you but only when you start taking positive action.
You can only move in two directions. Fear or love. When you choose to be afraid, you may find yourself blocking the flow of life. Yet when you choose to act from a place of love then suddenly all sorts of synchronicities appear to support your decisions and help you grow.
Whatever you choose, do so with an open and loving heart knowing it will all work out exactly as it’s supposed to.
